Axarquia Bird Group visit to the Cota Donana
It was whilst searching for the bird, and others, that we discovered a flock of 15 Little Bustards flying low over the back of the field. The Kookaburra is native to Australia and New Guinea, and belongs to the Kingfisher family. They are quite a large, stocky bird and can be up to 17 inches in length. They have a large bill and their head looks oversize for their body â" our kids used to call them ... The kookaburra kept flying down at the snake, being very wary not to get bitten; he finally managed to kill the snake and flew off with it hanging from his beak!
